You will serve as an ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT ASSISTANT in the Navy Munitions Command Atlantic Unit Charleston of LANTORDCOM DET CHARLESTON.
Duties
You will coordinate the development of automated personnel system(s), e.g., recall bill, personnel chart, onboard count, muster report, and manpower documents.
You will plan, develop, implement, and promote automation of personnel processes/procedures (sponsor program, personnel messages, new check-in and check-out procedures, fitness reports/counseling, performance appraisals, clearance request, etc.)
You will coordinate military and civilian personnel issues (e.g., such as Requests for Personnel Action (RPAs), retirements, and commissioning ceremonies, legal separation actions, payroll discrepancies, awards).
You will liaison with pass and badge, Government Travel Card management, set up conferences, meetings, award ceremonies, set up travel in Defense Travel System (DTS).
You will perform administrative projects for the CO involving researching applicable instructions, collecting and compiling data.
You will investigate all pertinent sources of information both within Unit Charleston and outside the Unit, and finalizing action in the form of written reports, packages, plans, and point papers.
You will function as Unit Charleston Assistant Security Manager (Information and Personnel).
You will prepare all permanent and visitor badge requests and controls access lists.
You will process Unit personnel security access, ensure they have credentials, and have been properly indoctrinated and certified.
You will work directly with NMCLANT Security Manager to obtain and track Unit security clearances including Department of Defense (DOD) inspection units.
You will provide clerical and administrative support services to the CO and staff and maintain CO’s appointment calendar.
You will receive and review all outgoing correspondence, including messages, for completeness of grammar, punctuation, spelling format, and attaches pertinent background information and references.
You will receive and file correspondence records and reports and distributes received mail to the appropriate recipient.
You will maintain central files in accordance with Navy’s Standards Subject Identification Code (SSIC).
You will receive, sign for logs, distribute, and file all classified messages and publications and maintain classified documents.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
To qualify for the ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT ASSISTANT, GS-0301-09, your resume must demonstrate at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying DOD, Navy and command security regulations and policies concerning clearances, document classification and marking, handling and storage of classified material and information technology.
Experience ensuring efficient management and execution of security functions, to include classified and unclassified correspondence.
Experience performing administrative projects involving researching applicable instructions, collecting, and compiling data into reports, packages, plans and point papers and submitting them to the CO for final review.
Experience providing travel management support functions (i.e. input for fiscal year travel budget, preparing orders, scheduling travel, making travel arrangements and verifying travel vouchers, per diem and allowance policies, foreign entry, etc.).
Experience utilizing automated office software systems for scheduling and monitoring management and staff activities and to produce office correspondence i.e., reports, charts, spreadsheets, coordinating meetings, briefings, and conference notes in compliance with the Navy Correspondence Manual.
Experience communicating both verbally and in writing to provide guidance and training on proper correspondence, requesting information, and administration processes in accordance with procedures and directives.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree
OR
Possession of an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to this position being filled.
