You will serve as an Information Technology (IT) Specialist at the GG-13/Band 3 level providing specialized and technical IT services for the Hopper N42 Installations Division in support of Fleet/Edge Requirements, responsible for analyzing IT requirements and translating to deliverable products. This position is located in Suitland, MD in the HOPPER GLOBAL COMMUNICATIONS CENTER.
Duties
You will research, identify, and provide costing for IT products that meet validated requirements.
You will provide IT services including installation and basic configuration expertise on a wide variety of IT products, to include personal workstations, secure voice and video solutions, network switches and routers, and cryptographic equipment.
You will also provide IT services on products such as associated cabling, and network connectivity in a WAN, LAN or point-to-point environment.
You will install network switches/routers, computers, printers, VoIPs and VTC systems, Layer 1 network infrastructure (e.g. CAT-6, Fiber Optic), and network encryption hardware.
You will maintain familiarity with Department of Defense Intelligence Information System (DODIIS), DOD/DON, NIST/IEEE, and commercial IT/IA standards and best practices.
You will interpret IT policies, standards, and guidelines and verify IT design and configuration standards for TCF, and develop and recommend hardware and software modernization plans.
You will conduct interviews with users and generate requirements for new or modified information technology (IT) systems/services, software and/or hardware.
Requirements

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

In addition to your experience demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS/GG-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as:
Diagnosing, analyzing and resolving information technology (IT) systems, software and/or hardware problems.
Testing and optimizing the functionality of information technology (IT) data transfers between systems, networks and data backbones.
Reviewing information technology (IT) certification and accreditation documentation to ensure that it is compliant with standards, policy, and regulations.
Identifying and defining technical requirements applied to the planning, design, development, testing, implementation, management and support of information technology (IT) systems and networks.
Performing installation, testing, troubleshooting and maintenance of information technology (IT) hardware or software.
