About the Position: As Executive Officer (XO) and primary advisor to the Assistant Chief of Staff (ACS), and Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff, G-3, Operations Directorate, U.S. Army South (ARSOUTH), provide expert guidance, support, and direction for all operations and activities under the purview of the Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff, G-3, and the Director's authority, as well as the combined G-3/5/7 directorates as required.
Duties
Serves as the Executive Officer, supporting the Director and Deputy, G-3, in coordinating and aligning operational needs for ARSOUTH exercises, plans, training, mobilization, and contingency operations.
Oversees the activities of various divisions in collaboration with the Deputy, G-3, encompassing program planning, budget execution, operations, plans, general administration, conference planning, executive-level correspondence, and task management.
Acts as a consultant for the Deputy on plans, policies, and procedures.
Serves as the funds manager for the Assistant Chief of Staff, G-3, overseeing planning, programming, directing, and controlling fiscal responsibilities for G-3 operational funds.
Executes the approved budget, continually monitoring fund availability and assessing the need for reprogramming.
Analyzes and interprets rules, regulations, directives, and correspondence related to administration.
Plans, executes, or provides staff direction for special staff studies and projects.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This is a Key Position. IAW AR690-11, a Key Position is a Federal position that cannot be vacated during a national emergency without seriously impairing the capability of its parent agency to function effectively.
- TDY travel is required up to 20% of the time.
- Incumbent is required to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, (5CFR Part 2634, Subpart I Confidential Financial Disclosure Reports).
- Top Secret Clearance is required for this position.
- Probationary period maybe required.
- Position requires a Drug Test to maintain a TOP Secret Clearance.

Specialize experience: one year equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service which includes providing advice, direction, expert guidance, and coordinate a wide variety of functions on military command structure, missions, roles, and organizational structure; evaluate and plan operational initiatives and resource requirements associated with administrative programs; effectively coordinate and facilitate actions and speak on behalf of the Senior Officials including appropriate handling of taskers and politically sensitive activities.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
