You will serve as a Quality Assurance Specialist (Shipbuilding) in the Contract Oversight Quality Assurance Division of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will assist senior Quality Assurance Specialists and Supervisors with planning, developing, organizing, administering, evaluating, and managing a comprehensive Contract Administration Quality Assurance Program. You will be provided detailed and specific instructions for developmental tasks and tasks involving the use of unfamiliar formats, methods, and procedures. You will review work specifications and other contract documents to ensure appropriate quality assurance requirements are specified. You will conduct surveillances shipboard and at the contractor’s facilities to ensure program and contract compliance.

• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift when in an industrial area or work site.
• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• This position requires regular and recurring shipboard and shipyard inspections requiring walking, bending and climbing ladders for extended periods.
• This position requires the incumbent to preform temporary duty travel up to approximately 20% of the time, travel may be on short notice and/or for extended periods.
• This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Qualifications

GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: reviewing and assessing contractor operations and processes related to shipbuilding projects to ensure compliance with contract quality requirements to include product inspection and product deficiency investigations. GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
