About the Position:
Fort Drum, the home of the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), is located in Northern New York, a historically unique and geographically beautiful area, offering bountiful outdoor recreational opportunities from hunting and fishing to winter sports of all types. Fort Drum is approximately 30 miles from Canada, with the Great Lakes to the west, the Adirondack Mountains to the east, and the St. Lawrence River and Thousand Islands in between.
Duties
Plans and coordinates major meetings, conferences, seminars, demonstrations, symposia, tours, and formal visits for 10th Mountain Division and Fort Drum.
Analyzes and interprets requirements, secures essential data from sponsoring segment as available.
Prepares and coordinates agenda and itineraries.
Monitors the entire visit and makes on-the-spot changes without interruption or inconvenience to the visitor.
Prepares and submits reports through channels to the Protocol Office covering visits by senior officials of executive agencies of the Federal government, ranking foreign nationals, and members of Congress in report to higher headquarters.
Monitors disbursement of allocated funds and captures cost data for later analysis.
In concert with the Protocol Officer responsible for audits and controls and appropriate use of funds in accordance with Army Regulation 37-47.
Prepares justification and requests additional funds from the Secretary of the Army Contingency Fund.
Coordinates administrative matters, such as maintaining an up-to-date VIP database for special functions consideration and invitations.
Supervises all equipment and supply requirements for the office.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Incumbent will work alternative schedules, evenings, and weekends as directed.
- Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a valid state issued driver's license.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes.
1.) Providing assistance with planning special events with dignitaries and distinguished guests; AND
2.) Preparing documents for approval and review: AND
3.) Establishing lodging arrangements for attendees: AND
4.) Assisting with analysis of cost data for budget projection.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: communications, community planning, or public administration.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
