Serve as the administrative assistant to the Chief, Nuclear Medicine Service of the VA Caribbean Healthcare System (VACHS), San Juan Puerto Rico.

Duties

Major duties include but aren't limited to: Collect, compile and track statistical information in support of Nuclear Medicine Service operations. Receive and process documents and reports in accordance with established procedures. Use software applications to collate information from various sources in order to prepare and/or assist in preparation of reports. Track and trend issues related to program effectiveness and role implementation. Exercise exclusive control over the Chief of Nuclear Medicine appointments, with complete authority for commitments of time, maintaining the Chief of Nuclear Medicine daily calendar and based on knowledge and on own initiative schedules the appointments and meetings without the Chief of Nuclear Medicine's prior approval. Maintain Service level monitoring of compliance with performance appraisals, ECF, Proficiency Reports, Competence Assessment, Personnel Actions (Form 52) and timely submission of performance pay. Take and transcribe minutes of Service Staff meetings2, Nuclear Medicine Q.A. and Safety Committee. Identify actions to be taken. Provide coaching and educating all physicians at the time they apply for initial appointment and credentialing on the process and requirements. Serve as a control point clerk. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/30/2024. This position requires proficiency in spoken and written English and in spoken Spanish. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Prepare memos, and letters; collect, compile, and track statistical information; maintain tracking logs; use a wide variety of computer software; compile, prepare, and timely submit reports; receive and process documents; schedule appointments; receive visitors and telephone calls; establish and maintain files; collect data for review; perform daily credit card purchases and reconciliations; manage records. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items like papers or books. The position requires sitting, fine hand manipulation (keyboard and mouse movements), and looking at a monitor during long hours. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
