You will serve as a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist in the Safety Division of HQ US MARINE CORPS.
Duties
You will provide technical advice on safety programs for commanders during exercises and operational maneuvers in and outside of the continental United States (CONUS/OCONUS).
You will be responsible for planning, formulating, organizing, and developing various safety program areas, such as ground military operations, industrial, tactical motor vehicle, and other phases of accident prevention.
You will conduct periodic field surveys and inspections of the safety and health programs at subordinate field activities and units to assure compliance with safety requirements, to determine the adequacy of their prevention programs.
You will coordinate and provide headquarters safety support to Marine Corps activities on safety training, inspections, mishap reporting and investigations.
You will develop and write supplemental instructions and informational material on technical or administrative phases affecting the various educational and training portions of the overall safety and occupational health programs.
You will study, research, and analyze increased risk and high hazard operations, systems, and training evolutions to recommend corrective action to reduce or eliminate hazardous exposures Marine Corps-wide.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- You must be willing and able to perform temporary duty at locations other than your permanent duty station which may include travel by military or commercial aircraft/flights.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector conducting field surveys or inspections of safety and health programs to evaluate compliance, identify program deficiencies, and make recommendations for the improved safety of command operations.
