Duties
This position is in the Administrative Support Program (ASP) in the Office of Human Resources Management. The ASP provides temporary administrative support to various offices within the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
This position is responsible for providing a wide range of administrative support duties. Major duties include:
Answering and directing telephone calls
Managing calendars
Creating spreadsheets, presentations, and reports
Reviewing, writing, and editing correspondence
Maintaining time and attendance
Coordinating and scheduling meetings/conferences
Arranging travel
Maintaining and organizing files
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
- Suitable for Federal employment
- Merit applicants must meet time-in-grade/band requirements, as applicable
- Must be able to type 40 WPM.
- Bargaining Unit Position: No
- Must be willing to work on an "as needed" basis (intermittent).
Qualifications
Administrative Support Clerk (OA) ZS-0303-II
To qualify for the ZS-II position, applicants must have at least six months of progressively responsible clerical, office or other administrative experience that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform administrative support duties, such as those described in the duties section of this announcement.
OR
One full-year of post high school education in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university
OR
An equivalent combination of experience and/or post-high school education
In addition to the above minimum qualification requirements, applicants must be able to type 40 wpm.
Administrative Support Assistant (OA) ZS-0303-III
To qualify for the ZS-III position, applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level (ZS-II for NIST). Specialized experience is defined as experience in completing administrative duties, such as maintaining time and attendance, arranging travel, managing multiple calendars, reviewing and editing correspondence, maintaining files, and/or compiling and entering information into automated systems.

4 years of education above high school
OR
An equivalent combination of experience and/or post-high school education
In addition to the above minimum qualification requirements, applicants must be able to type 40 wpm.
