You will serve as a FAMILY HOUSING ASSISTANT (OA) in the FAMILY HOUSING DIVISION, HOUSING DEPARTMENT of MCAS CHERRY POINT.

Duties

You will interview military personnel of all ranks, and/or dependents, seeking housing assistance on or off-base. You will accept, acknowledge receipt, verify and process applications and required documentation for housing. You will determined housing eligibility status through screening process. You will counsel applicants regarding rules, regulations, Orders, availability, bedroom entitlements and application control dates for referral to the Public-Private Venture (PPV) Partner. You will provide an off-base orientation covering restricted facilities, geographic locations, local community facilities and schools. You will prepare housing documentation in final format to include letters, non-availability statements, referral and TMO vouchers/ and miscellaneous memoranda.

Requirements

  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be posses and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license. And maintain on-base driving privileges.
  • This position requires access to the Marine Corps Total Force System (MCTFS). You must successfully undergo an ANACI background investigation to remain qualified to hold this position.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card with travel and purchase authority.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-04) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Counseling personnel on eligibility requirements and availability of housing, processing housing applications and managing waitlists AND preparing housing documentation in final format for an organization. This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination. Education

In lieu of specialized experience listed in the Qualifications section, you may qualify based on education or equivalent combination of education and experience, as follows:

Successfully completed four years of education above high school level.

OR

Have a combination of experience and post high school education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
