You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST in the Command Fleet Readiness Centers, Department of Navy of COMFLTREADCEN.

Duties

You will analyze Personnel Security investigation documentation for validity in accordance with regulatory requirements. You will evaluate Information Security programs and policies for compliance and effectiveness. You will report or make recommendations to upper management concerning violations or possible compromises. You will verify security violations are investigate and reported. You will inspect security programs to measure the adequacy, efficiency, or need for improvement. You will conduct physical and information technology security training to educate personnel on security requirements to prevent issues.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Administering management security policies and procedures and coordinating functions between multi-disciplinary groups to accomplish intended organizational goals; 2) Identifying, evaluating and recommending alternative approaches and improvements to security processes; 3) Developing, maintaining and documenting security plans, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), instructions, and implementation plans to meet Force Protection, Physical Security, Information Security, Acquisition Security, Operations Security, Personnel Security and Industrial Security policy, directives, and best practices; 4) Anticipating future security requirements and conducting long term planning to address shortfalls in order to meet the future program and squadron security requirements; and 5) Tracking discrepancies and administering appropriate corrective actions to bring programs and implementation of programs into compliance.
