You will serve as an EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST (ORDNANCE) in the ORDNANCE ASSEMBLY SECTION, ORDNANCE PRODUCTION BRANCH, ORDNANCE OPERATIONS DIVISION, ORDNANCE DEPARTMENT of NAVAIRWARCENWPNDIV CHINA LAKE.

Duties

You will provide advisory services and support to those who design, test, produce, procure, operate, and repair ordnance items. You will recommend modifications to test equipment or subsystems. You will function as an assembly, test, checkout, and weapons handling crew member.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current missile and component assembly and testing certification.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience includes duties related to the following: 1) Monitoring inventory control procedures, ammunition buildup procedures, and explosives storage practices; 2) Assembling missile and bomb components; 3) Utilizing ordnance handling and testing safety practices. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree.

OR

Have successfully completed two full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree.

OR

OR

Have a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
