Duties

You will provide advisory services and support to those who design, test, produce, procure, operate, and repair ordnance items. You will monitor inventory control procedures, ammunition buildup procedures, and explosives storage practices. You will implement policies/ procedures and manage, control, and coordinate logistics, operational, maintenance, test and equipment support, deficiency investigation, and provisioning support for weapon systems/ equipment. You will recommend modifications to test equipment or subsystems that significantly add to the system operability and usefulness. You will serve as a point of contact for scheduling and performing support functions in subject area of expertise for program or functions affecting the department. You will use a variety of general-purpose test equipment and the skill to perform resistance, continuity, and other functional tests of items to verify the adequacy of repairs in accordance with test procedures.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing knowledge of weapons publications pertaining to inspections, storage and transportations, maintenance, and repair; 2) Working with a team to ensure safety and mission requirements are met; 3) Advising customers who design, test, produce, procure, operate and repair weapons; and 4) Working with an assembly team to complete weapons requests by customers in a safe and proper fashion. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

For GS-09 level:
Master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree
OR
LL.B. or J.D., if directly related
