Serves as a Program Support Assistant (PSA) to the Health Care for Homeless Veterans (HCHV) Program and Primary Care Service located at the Orlando VA Medical Center, Daytona Clinic, under the guidance of the Social Work Service.
Duties
This position requires excellent relational and communication skills; advance knowledge of and experience with computers, databases, and Excel spreadsheets; and experience in working with a military Veteran population with presenting medical, behavioral health, and/or substance use disorder conditions. Duties and responsibilities include but, are not limited to:
Develop, perform, and monitor administrative management requirements for the HCHV and Primary Care programs supporting the many subdivisions and functions of an organization with evolving as well as established administrative requirements.
Draft correspondences, recommendations, reports, policies, emails, and memoranda related to management and administrative programs and issues.
Provide advice and guidance to managers and employees on questions and situations related to the administrative services provided.
Prepare a variety of materials including patient letters, memorandums, education requests, outreach requests, key requests, space requests, etc.
Support management of HUD-VASH and Primary Care referrals and the list of vouchers allocated as well as assisting with quarterly voucher reconciliation.
Serve as the point of contact for Case Management staff to schedule Rideshare services.
Identify and perform routine liaison tasks to support the organizational planning process.
Monitor transitional housing program expenditures and forecasts changes that require needs/access for assigned areas of responsibility.
Prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports for the Homeless Program supervisors.
Assist in providing guidance on aspects of tasks to support the development and administration of quality and productivity programs for the organization.
Typing Requirement:
This position requires a typing requirement of 40 words per minute.
Preferred Experience:
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, ability to track information and complete reports, ability to work with people of a variety of backgrounds and cultures.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/25/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05.
The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Providing administrative support; collecting, compiling and tracking data and information; processing documents and reports; establishing, updating and maintaining office files and records; answering telephones, referring visitors, and providing information; and using computer programs to prepare documents.

Physical Requirements: The work is typically sedentary, although physical effort on a daily basis may likely be required to respond to Veteran needs in the medical center, as well as to deliver or track program supplies and/or surplus items to meet with staff within the Orlando VA Medical Center and other clinics in the Orlando VA Healthcare System as needed. Manual dexterity is required in operation of personal computer and other office equipment. Driving a vehicle may be required to travel to community outreach events and to outpatient clinics where HCHV Case Managers provide services.
