About the Position: This position is with the 84th Training Command, 86th Training Division located in Fort McCoy, Wisconsin.
Duties
Perform joint reviews with budget personnel, program managers and higher headquarters to ensure
procedural compliance.
Develop adequate internal control systems to assist with monitoring resources.
Perform training as needed with new travelers and approving officials on DTS policy and procedures.
Formulate accounting policies concerning the administrative control of funds.
Oversee the day-to-day usage of the Government Travel Card Program.
Establish procedures for executing the Command’s program and budget system.
Compile a variety of statistical and narrative reports to measure program success.
Analyze Command and subordinate budget submissions for compliance.
Exercise responsibility for the daily execution of various funding programs
Represent the organization in meetings with higher headquarters concerning budget activities.
Provide administrative guidance to Command staff to carry out budget functions.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires Level 2 Financial Management Certification within 2 years of appointment.
- This position requires you to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing guidance on budget requirements, analyzing trends and data, monitoring expenditures, preparing budgetary reports, and developing budget estimates. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years (54 semester hours) of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Financial Management.
OR
Combining Education and Experience: A combination of education and specialized experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education in excess of 2 years (36 semester hours) by 18. Add the 2 percentages. Note: For the purpose of qualifications, 1 full year of graduate education is equivalent to 18 semester hours.
