Duties

You will perform the following duties In executing a range of assignments aimed at mitigating corrosion as a maintenance cost and significant life cycle management challenge as cited below: You will develop new or substantially modify work operations and progress plans (short and long range), goals, objectives, resource estimate use, intra and inter-program/project balances and other related aspects of the corrosion program/project. You will communicate potentially controversial findings, issues or problems with widespread impact with the supervisor, providing recommendations for mitigation. You will integrate and update development and/or execution phases of cognizant program/project areas into a consolidated set of plans and objectives that ensures management will have an effective and economically sound plan for reaching objectives. You will interact with program stakeholders to conduct fact finding, researches databases, maintenance and repair histories, and other sources of information that focus on slow to degrade systems, (structural, tanks, voids) and corrosion programs. You will direct and monitor operating programs to measure compliance with regulatory guidance and progress towards reaching objectives effectively and economically. You will participate as a member of multi sector (federal military and civilian, contractor, association, etc.), multi-functional (engineers, technicians, analysts, etc.) working groups, analysis teams and special projects. You will conduct research and use qualitative and quantitative techniques for analyzing and measuring program effectiveness, efficiency and productivity. You will assist corrosion community of practice in preparing for presentations and/or representation at conferences, round tables, meetings where affected programs and initiatives are discussed. You will update/modify or direct others to update/modify data elements of the Navy Configuration Control Management Database as directed. You will conduct conferences and/or represent SURFMEPP in meetings and provide oral and written presentations to managers. You will participate in or lead a variety of SURFMEPP special projects; providing research, fact-finding and analytical support.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level pay band NH-02 (GS-11 equivalent) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector analyzing and advising management on corrosion control programs. (e.g., provide analysis and reports which contribute to the development of engineered maintenance requirements for corrosion elements of Class Maintenance Plans (CMPs.), update/modify or direct others to update/modify data elements of Corrosion Control Information Management Systems, etc.) Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=Group-Standards Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
