About the Position: This position serves as a Military Analyst (Writer) for the DIRECTORATE OF CONCEPTS (DOC) FUTURE WARFARE DIVISION (FWD) located at Fort Aldephi, MD.
Duties
Serves as a Military Analyst in the Disruptive Technology Branch (DTB), Army Concepts Division (ACD), Directorate of Concepts (DoC), Futures and Concepts Center (FCC), Army Futures Command (AFC).
Acts as a deep future “scout” for FCC with respect to new and emerging science and technologies, continually assessing their implications for how future Army forces could organize, operate, and equip differently in 2040 and beyond.
Leverages personal expertise to provide operationally relevant analysis of foundational research for concept development.
Provide expertise focused on how Army forces could operate, organize, and equip differently using deep future technologies (2040-2050).
Help plan and execute events that link science and concepts.
Advance DoC’s understanding of new and emerging science and technologies for Army concept development and experimentation primarily through the Focused Excursion program.
Engage and collaborate regularly with research, academic, and industry to identify new and innovative technological solutions to future operational challenges.
Write information and white papers covering disruptive technologies in the deep future that contribute to Army concepts.
Assist in the planning and execution of the Future Study Program, including planning and facilitating Structured Workshops and event-specific analysis plans.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- The incumbent will be required to travel TDY approximately 10% of the time.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
