This position is located in Refugee, Asylum and International Operations Asylum Division Houston Asylum Office. As an Supervisory Program Specialist, you will provide direction to a varied staff engaged in mission support and core operational functions, while leading in the strategic planning and resource management of an Asylum Office.

Duties

Oversee all mission support and operational support functions that fall within the Asylum Office’s jurisdiction. Supervise Asylum Office support staff responsible for mission and operational support functions within the office, including resource management, workload analysis, employee performance, adjudications, and liaising with external stakeholders. Formulate strategic objectives, priorities, and long range plans to meet the agency's mission and to ensure the timely execution of major program or staff functions. Oversee the development of technical data, estimates, and recommendations that are useful to higher level managers in determining which goals and objectives to prioritize in managing asylum operations. Plan, direct, and execute liaison operations for critical agency-wide programs.

The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 01/25/2024. Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 01/25/2024. GS-13: You qualify at the GS-13 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Providing expert guidance to a wide range of personnel based on knowledge of the division's mission and functions; Planning and implementing the development of asylum and/or other immigration benefits program standards, policies and procedures; Assisting with the long-range planning of asylum and/or other immigration benefits programs; and, Creates reports on the productivity, effectiveness and efficiency of asylum and/or other immigration benefits program operations.
