The position serves as the primary contact for administrative, clinical and clerical issues for the Environmental Health Program within the Enrollment and Eligibility Department located in Sheridan, WY.
Duties

Working as front-line staff member for the Business Office, you will perform highly visible administrative work that includes the following responsibilities:
Program Oversight
Interviews veterans and determining eligibility for special health care registries within the Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT Act) and Comprehensive Prevention, Access to Care, and Treatment (COMPACT) Act (e.g., Agent Orange, Gulf War/Operation Iraqi Freedom, Depleted Uranium (DU), Ionizing Radiation, Prisoners of War (POW)).
Provides brief oral explanation of the purposes of each registry program and the examination process.
Coordinates with clinical staff to ensure verification of scheduling registry appointments occur within the mandated 30-day time frame and exploring other options if 30-day requirement cannot be met.
Administrative Support
Maintains daily contacts (face-to-face, e-mail, correspondence, etc) with veterans, family members, Veterans Service Officer (VSOs), public officials to explain VA policies and procedures regarding PACT and COMPACT Act's and resolves veteran and family member complaints or concerns by recommending appropriate courses of action.
Disseminates Environmental Health Program information to veterans, families and other interested parties via newsletters, information bulletins, and web sites, and displays (e.g., via posters) appropriate program information in outpatient areas, Veteran Service Organization offices, etc.
Special Projects/Quality Assurance
Offers recommendations and suggestions to improve program functions to accommodate veterans.
Serves as a member of the logistical staff in the execution of a variety of environmental health and/or enrollment and eligibility programs.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Qualifications
One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in Federal service. Specialized experience includes performing administrative duties in support of a healthcare in applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to plan and conduct studies and analyses, to identify problem and potential problem areas based on daily observance concerning the efficiency and effectiveness, and productivity of managed programs. Skill in data collection and evaluation techniques to accurately manage data, identify and extract information, identify, and correct deviations, and prepare justifications. -OR-
A master's degree, equivalent graduate degree, 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or an LL.B. or J.D. in a related field that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. One year of full-time graduate education is the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended. Transcripts required. -OR-

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Physical Requirements: The work requires some physical exertion such as periods of walking, standing, or sitting within the assigned clinic areas. Some bending, climbing of stairs and lifting of medical records or forms/supplies is required. The quantity and variety of clinical staff contacts require that the incumbent be able to respond to multiple complex issues and establish priority as the situation demands. Travel between other VA facilities may be required.
