You will serve as an Engineering Technician (Electrical) in the Lifting and Handling Department, C/700 of Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS & IMF) in Bremerton, WA.
Duties
You will assist higher grade engineers and technicians or work as a team member on projects involving maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Electrical systems on existing Weight Handling Equipment used to support Shipyard work.
You will assist in the check out and commissioning of new Weight Handling Equipment (WHE) and writing and editing technical instructions for the repair and maintenance of Electrical systems of Weight Handling Equipment.
You will demonstrate knowledge of crane Electrical systems and operation for a variety of cranes, including hoists, brakes, control systems, diesel engines, transmissions, and powered components.
You will prepare technical documents directing required and improvement maintenance work to be performed on Electrical hardware on cranes.
You will interpret specifications and instructions to assure material and equipment adequacy.
You will demonstrate knowledge of Electrical mathematical principles to perform miscellaneous basic Electrical trade calculations.
You will communicate proficiently orally and in writing.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- Position may be required to qualify as a Radiological Controls R worker and maintain the qualifications of an R worker to permit supporting cranes that are located in radiological controlled areas.
- Position may require qualification in fall-protection and use fall-protection for equipment access.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS 09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying technical engineering techniques and policies to troubleshoot, repair, modify, or install electrical systems or components related to weight handling equipment.
