Duties

The incumbent of this position serves as a Budget Analyst in the OIG's Office of Administration, Budget and Financial Management Division (JPB). This division provides leadership and direction in the administration of financial management responsibilities in the areas of budget formulation, budget execution, travel, and fiscal issues necessary to support the OIG's mission. The division assists in the development and administration of OIG's policies that govern budget allocations and control functions, and fiscal services policies and prepares issuances and guidance on authorized expenditure of funds.

Qualifications

The GS-9 salary range starts at $68,405 per year. The GS-11 salary range starts at $82,764 per year. If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.  GS-9 Qualification Requirements:To qualify for the GS-9 level, an applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience determining whether obligations, expenditures and allotments are within funding limitations of an approved budget; compiling, analyzing and making corrective entries to income, operating expenses, and budget; compiling and organizing large amounts of information; and producing documents, forms, and correspondence. OR, by Education: 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree or a LL.B or J.D., in a related field of study to this position, or a combination of specialized experience and graduate education that together meet the qualification requirements of this position.GS-11 Qualification Requirements:To qualify for the GS-11, an applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level in the federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes experience in budget formulation, presentation, and execution; and utilizing knowledge or skill in applying related laws, regulations, policies, precedents, methods, and techniques of budgeting. OR, by Education: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or have successfully completed 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if in an area of study directly related to the work of this position; or, a combination of graduate level education and appropriate experience that together meet the qualification requirements of this position.
