You will serve as a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST in the Office of the Chief of Information (CHINFO) of NAVY OFFICE OF COMMUNITY OUTREACH.

Duties

You will create and edit written, graphical, and/or visual information products for release. You will research and evaluate the success of content created in accomplishing DON communication objectives and strategies. You will conduct research, plan, coordinate and assist with the execution and evaluation of communication activities and outreach events in support of DON missions. You will ensure assigned activities, events, and associated content are effectively coordinated, approved, scheduled, managed, and evaluated. You will support media relations activities including developing and coordinating talking points, producing and disseminating news releases and accompanying material, assisting with media training, and responding to media queries.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Creating and editing written, graphical, and/or visual information products for release; AND verifies accuracy of content submitted and ensures compliance with recognized style guides, regulations, and policies. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

master's or equivalent graduate degree

or

2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.B. or J.D., if related
