About the Position: Responsible for the development and execution of training and readiness evaluations of Department of Defense, CBRNE Response Enterprise, CRE Elements, to include state National Guard, Weapons of Mass Destruction, Civil Support Teams, and Enhanced Response Force Packages, Homeland Response Forces, Defense CBRN Response Force and Command and Control CBRN Response Elements located within the ARNORTH region.
Duties
Develop and propose system changes and recommend policies to resolve significant management and training problems.
Oversee current regulations, policies, and directives concerning HAZMAT incident sites in response to homeland security and defense.
Mentor Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) Response Enterprise commanders on the best methods of responding to terrorist incidents involving weapons of mass destruction (WMD).
Review and approve internal proposals for organizational or functional realignments in accordance with established policies and guidance.
Advise and consultant to the Command for all issues and matters relating to the development, implementation, and facilitation of training support for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) Response Enterprise elements.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent will be required to deploy within the NORTHCOM AOR on short notice (in under 24 hours).
- Overtime and shift work may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays, and weekends.
- Incumbent will be expected to function in adverse climatic conditions and under intense physical and mental stress.
- Incumbent must be capable, upon completion of training, of unassisted donning of mission oriented protective posture (MOPP) mask, clothing and equipment.
- Incumbent must be able to wear other personal protective equipment (PPE) or clothing such as boots, goggles, gloves, chemical mask and other safety equipment as required..
- Incumbent must participate in the DOD/DA Immunization program to include live vaccinations as required by DOD/DA policy.
- Employees may be required to wear an electronic pager and maintain a working telephone at all times.
- Incumbent will be required to submit to a urinalysis for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain/hold a Top Secret (SCI), Special Sensitive security clearance. Failure to satisfactory complete any aspect of this process is grounds for termination.
- As a pre-condition of employment, any and all incumbents of this position must pass a physical examination.
- Incumbent may travel up to 60%.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes oversight of training and readiness evaluation for all DOD Component Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE) domestic response teams and units; Experience with emergency responses which include Hazmat incident management and Weapons of Mass Destruction; experience applying system changes to policies, principles and practices and ensuring budgetary requirements for exercises are identified and met; Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of military and civilian personnel.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
