This position is located at the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital Tampa FL and Research and Development Service. The primary purpose of this position is to support the Administrative Officer/ Research by performing a variety of clerical, administrative, and office support tasks.
Duties
Major duties include but not limited it:
Collection, compilation, and/or tracking of data and statistical information in support of the Research program operations.
Planning, review, and reporting of data/statistical results of program/project studies; establishes protocols for incoming data, organizes computerized data sets, and retrieves computerized data.
Maintains a sophisticated document filing system.
Enters pertinent information into a tracking system such as Time Keeping Programs, ePROMISE, mIRB, or DIFR.
Provides general clerical support such as responding to telephone inquiries, providing requested information, about the office or specific programs and criteria as applicable.
Coordinates and maintains the AO's calendar as well as the Research and Development project calendar.
Processes incoming and outgoing materials such as correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other forms of written communication.
Composes, reviews, and edits a variety of letters, reports, and correspondence for accuracy and completeness.
Completes special projects in support of the outreach program and acts to support educational activities and programs related to the research service and research participants.
Provides space utilization support for an organization with frequent organizational and functional changes.
Manages the administrative property of the organization by performing property management duties such as the maintenance of records, conduct of periodic inventories, and/or disposal of excess property.
Monitors contract performance through telephone conversations; correspondence; site visits; inspections; progress reports; and analysis of contractor compliance with performance standards, applicable laws, delivery schedules, inspections, and other requirements stated in the contract.
Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/12/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Provides general clerical support services, such as answering the phone, referring visitors, generating reports, routing communications, composing letters and memorandums, scheduling meetings and appointments.
Excellent relational and communication skills, advanced knowledge of and experience with computer, oral and written communication skills and the ability to work with others.
Assists in planning, reviewing and reporting of data/statistical results of program/project studies.
Performs basic analysis for data and generates a variety of reports.
Monitors contract performance through telephone conversations; correspondence; site visits; inspections; progress reports; and analysis of contractor compliance.

Physical Requirements: The position requires moderate periods of standing and sitting while in the office. Considerable walking, bending, stooping, reaching, stair-climbing, and some lifting and carrying of moderately heavy objects (less than 40 pounds - record boxes, chairs) is necessary to oversee and maintain the building environment.
