This position serves as the program Support Assistant and Administrative Assistant for Mental Health & Behavioral Sciences Service. The MH&BS Service is divided into 9 subspecialty sections, some of which are further subdivided. The service has extensive internal procedures and reporting systems. The MH&BS Service is interlocked with affiliated academic programs. The primary purpose is to provide administrative and clerical support to a team who is providing clinical services to Veterans.
Duties
Duties include bat are not limited to:
Ensure third party billing and VERA dollars received are appropriate and clinic coding practices are current and appropriate.
Enters and tracks non-equipment IT service requests. Troubleshoots staff IT, space, and equipment issues and acts as liaison between program staff and MHSL Logistical Coordinator.
Coordinates activities with other administrative support staff and departments to ensure efficient flow of work throughout the Mental Health Service Line.
Maintains an automated system of program-specific data to track suspense dates on project milestones, progress reports, funding accomplishments, compliance strategies, etc.
Collects and analyzes Clinic Utilization reports through VSSC and Vista to ensure compliance with Medical Center Policy, MH & BSS, Directives and VA Handbooks.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Monitors expenses and recommends budget adjustments to deal with changing situations such as varying costs for equipment parts, or services, and changes in the availability of funds.
Integrates data from various types of resources to produce final products for analyzation which will be accurate to meet the needs of the program.
Collects, analyzes and tracks data related to provider productivity, proper stop-code usage, clinic wait times and cancellations, no-shows, missed opportunities, open encounters, consults, and notes.
Maintains an automated system of program-specific data to track suspense dates on project milestones, progress reports, funding accomplishments, compliance strategies, etc.
Types a variety of documents into final form, ensuring correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, format and style.

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary in nature and involves physical activity typical of an office setting. Bending and lifting equipment and boxes may be required. Occasional trips within the community area may be required.

Education
