This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6), Salem VA Healthcare System, Salem Virginia, in the Associates Director /Patient Care/ Nursing Service Line.

Duties

Major Duties: Assists in the planning, review, and reporting of data/statistical results of the Transfer Office. Performs basic analysis of the data and generates a variety of reports. Coordinates incoming data from a variety of sources, reviews documents and reports for omissions and inconsistencies, and ensures data entry is complete and accurate. Enters pertinent data into an automated tracking system and maintains program-specific data in automated systems to track suspense on items such as project milestones, progress reports, accomplishments, compliance strategies. Knowledge of principles and methods of web technologies, tools, and delivery systems, including web security, privacy policy practices, and user interface issues. Integrates technology into the workplace; develops strategies using new technology to manage and improve program effectiveness; understands the impact of technological changes on the organization Encourages and facilitates cooperation, pride, trust, and group identity; fosters commitment and team spirit; works with others to achieve goals. Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Uses correct English grammar to organize and communicate ideas that are appropriate to listeners and situations; uses body language appropriately. Work Schedule: 7:30am - 4:00pm, Monday - Friday Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/11/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: performs basic analysis of the data and generates a variety of reports; coordinates incoming data from a variety of sources, reviews documents and reports for omissions and inconsistencies, and ensures data entry is complete and accurate. Enters pertinent data into an automated tracking system and maintains program-specific data in automated systems to track suspense on items such as project milestones, progress reports, accomplishments, compliance strategies. Responsible for coordinating the outreach initiative designed to facilitate the delivery of services to Veterans hospitalized at non-VA care facilities. Monitors and categorizes requests received in the Transfer Office and serves as the first point of contact and subject matter expert regarding questions about coordination of referrals while building community partnership. Incumbent will collect and report data and any other administrative support tasks required to support the program at the facility level. Provides resources and referrals to inpatient Veterans at non-VA care facilities by requesting Veteran records from community providers who are seeking service-connected benefits. Obtains as much information as possible, provides information, resolves problems, and independently determines needs of to accommodate timely discharges in the community. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: Work is sedentary, and no special physical demands are required.
