You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (MECHANICAL) in the Engineering & Planning Department of PSNS and IMF.
Duties
You will troubleshoot, analyze and resolve technical administrative, financial and scheduling problems related to assigned work.
You will estimate costs and man-hours to ensure efficient production efforts.
You will prepare and develop detailed specifications, material, quality assurance inspection and test requirement documents.
You will analyze technical mechanical engineering problems and make estimates on system capabilities.
You will prepare detailed estimates for competitive bids and contract work and analyze bids to recommend contract awards.
You will modify existing technical work documents to define detailed requirements necessary to accomplished work for repairs and modifications.
Requirements

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector, developing technical engineering work documents to improve technical procedures and planning of technical engineering activities for the repair of ships or submarine mechanical system or equipment.
