About the Position: Incumbents serves as the Senior Adjudicator responsible for planning, managing, coordinating and executing the mission, functions and activities of the Physical Evaluation Board (PEB) Processes.
Duties
Serve as expert staff advisor and consultant to the Physical Evaluation Board (PEB) President and senior leadership on operational capabilities and policy matters relative to PEB operations / production, administration and staff training.
Serve as senior adjudicative member for a three-person adjudicative board team consisting of the incumbent, a physician, and one field grade officer (05) adjudicator.
Act on behalf of the Secretary of the Army to administer and adjudicate Army disability cases from approximately 10 geographically dispersed installations/locations.
Serve as the principal disability training representative for the adjudicative team, the Physical Evaluation Board Liaison Officers (PEBLOs), and hospital Patient Administration Division (PAD) Officers regarding PEB matters.
Direct and coordinates the activities of a staff of 6-15 civilians, contract and military specialists in grades through GS-7 -LTC.
Maintain a continuous review and analysis of the PEB to assure that an acceptable quality/quantity of work is performed and assigned duties are accomplished expeditiously, economically and efficiently in accordance with established objectives.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of occasional.

Specialized Experience: Your resume must reflect at least one year of specialized experience which includes: 1) participating in adjudicative hearings reviewing disability cases; 2) researching relevant medical, legal, administrative, and command issues as related to disability cases; 3) formulating recommendations and/or suggested ratings for disability cases.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
