You will serve as a PROJECT MANAGER in the WATERFRONT OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT of SOUTHWEST REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CENTER.
Duties
You will be the principal authority for the planning phase of all repair, alteration, and modernization work to the area Regional Maintenance Center (RMC) on assigned ship(s) during availabilities and a core member of the ships maintenance team.
You will be assuring planning estimates are established for timely receipt of funds.
You will be resolving problems affecting the end cost, quality, schedule, and performance of contracts.
You will be establishing and maintaining effective liaison relationships with Systems Commands, Type Commanders, Warfare Centers, and other customer representatives.
You will evaluate and analyze applicable policies and procedures and recommend changes to improve work processes utilizing manpower and material resources more effectively geared towards the overall project accomplishment.
You will coordinate, schedule, and administer assigned repair work to ensure that advanced planning functions are completed in time to permit orderly work list preparation, screening, specification preparations, and material ordering.
You will coordinate, edit, correlate, and perform quality audits of work specification packages to ensure authorized work is accomplished as agreed upon with customers.
You will develop new approaches, modify processes/techniques, and provide materials for guides/standards to be used by engineers, technicians, and others comprised of public and private resources to effect ship modernization, overhauls, and repair.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position requires satisfactory completion of the Commander Navy Regional Maintenance Center (CNRMC) Workforce Development Training Program.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector planning and managing ship overhaul operations by evaluating production activities and estimating labor or material costs in order to develop and implement improvements for fleet modernization efforts.
