You will serve as a Computer Scientist in the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division of NAVAIRWARCENADLKE.

Duties

You will perform as a system security engineer responsible for all phases of planning, coordinating, managing and directing the execution of Risk Management Framework processes, and related assessments, that directly support EMALS and AAG missions You will continually monitor, review, and evaluate new and current design architectures to ensure systems are capable of operating within an acceptable level of operational cyber risk You will identify, track and monitor currently fielded deficiencies. You will assist with the implementation of risk management strategies for adjudicating deficiencies. You will contribute expertise in formulating a software support activity in order to deliver and maintaining a successful integrated hardware/software system You will be responsible for influencing the design of systems to minimize cyber risks; perform security requirements development, detailed design and secure architecture development, and verification and validation testing You will analyze information assurance (IA) systems to verify compliance with security regulations

Requirements

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 631 level I within 12 months of appointment.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Extensive knowledge of EMALS and/or AAG systems and the unique system security requirements and considerations necessary to effectively maintain system security. 2) Extensive knowledge of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes. 3) Experience conducting investigations and feasibility studies to determine the practicality and adaptability of alternative technical approaches in consideration of the demands of cost, priorities and schedules. 4) Experience translating design concepts formulated by these efforts into basic designs for consideration to increase cyber resiliency. 5) Experience evaluating technical aspects, including developing technical performance measures (TPMs) of development and design work accomplished by NAWCAD and private contractors. 6) Experience providing technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to management and other technical specialists on critical Cyber issues. A bachelor's degree in computer science

Or

A bachelor's or higher degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of my 30 semester hours were in a combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.
