About the Position: This is a permanent position located on Shaw AFB, SC for an Operations Specialist (CBRNE).

Duties

Coordinates and synchronizes CBRN-related operational requirements in USARCENT. Provides technical support and recommendations that directly affect planning and execution of current operations. In unification with Headquarters Department of Army, USACENTCOM and USARCENT, manages and advises on a CBRN program that utilizes FORSCOM personnel to execute program objectives. Identifies manpower resources, funding, and other programs for current and future operations. Serves as the Contracting Officer Representative for program functional areas within the section.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Top Secret security clearance required.
  • Drug testing required.
  • Temporary duty travel up to 30% of the time required.
  • This position is designated as Key.
  • One-year probationary period may be required if not already completed in accordance with the 5 CFR.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Providing operational support to CBRNE-related areas such as mission analysis and planning and unit vulnerability and protection; 2) Formulating CBRNE training plans and reporting on training status; 3) Identifying manpower resources, funding, and other program requirements for current and future operations; and 4) Serving as the Contract Officer Representative (COR) for assigned functional areas. This definition of specialized experience is typical of the work performed at the next lower level (GS-09) OR Successfully completed a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as business administration/management, logistics, etc. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Have the specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have at least two years of graduate education as described in B, but less than the required three years. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.). (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Manages ResourcesOperations SupportPlanning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
