About the Position: This is a TERM NTE 13 months Director (Mission Training Complex) position located at Shaw AFB, SC.
Position may be filled as a Term Appointment not to exceed 13 months. Term appointments may be extended up to a maximum of six years, up to eight years.
Position may be made permanent without further competition.
Duties
Serve as Director of the Mission Training Complex (MTC) consisting of five major areas of support: Collective Training, Individual Army Mission Command Training, Small Unit Training, Leader Training and Development, Technical Support and Operations.
Supervise and manage a work force comprised of military, civilian, and contractor personnel.
Oversees planning, coordination and conduct of realistic Mission Command Training and Simulations supported exercises for Shaw AFB, SC, Active and Reserve Component units, Joint organizations, and other federal agencies.
MTC supports Intel Systems Simulations (WIM, IEWTPT), classified intelligence simulations with access to national level systems and related secure equipment in its own facility.
Recommends purchase and operation of simulation-related equipment and supervises its acquisition and use.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Secret security clearance required.
- 10% TDY required.
- One-year term trial period required.
- One-year supervisory probationary period may be required if not already completed in accordance with 5 CFR criteria.
- Term statement of understanding required.

Specialized Experience: One year of experience which includes: 1) directing the work of an organization providing an integrated operational environment leveraging constructive, virtual and computer gaming systems; 2) utilizing analytical methods and skill in systemic investigations to serve as the inter-divisional hardware/software expert; 3) utilizing a variety of administrative and management techniques to coordinate a highly technical and diverse workforce; 4) integrating military doctrine, tactics, force structure, equipment and weaponry capability to provide support at Battalion, Brigade, and Division unit levels.
