About the Position: Serves as the Health System Specialist (Assistant Program Manager for the Exceptional Family Member Program Office (EFMP)), Office of the Surgeon General and Medical Command (OTSG/MEDCOM).

Duties

Drafts written regulatory changes and Operation Orders, Fragmentary Orders (FRAGOs), and Tasking Orders (TOs) for the EFMP Special Needs Manager. Attends meetings and participates in conference calls during the absence of the manager ensuring information is shared with the manager upon their return to the office. Ensures implementation, training, and compliance reviews are scheduled and communicated with the appropriate offices. Reviews work for regulatory, procedural and technical compliance as well as general program efficiency and effectiveness. Collects and analyzes resource and manpower utilization data.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Temporary Duty (TDY) of up to 10% of the time is required. Note: Incumbent must travel approximately 30 days per year by a variety of means.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes:1) knowledge of the medical component of the Exceptional Family member program (EFMP); 2) developing and analyzing reports for the medical portion of Exceptional Family member program (EFMP); 3) advises staff on program policy, operations, and procedures; AND 4) providing administration management to ensure that program functions and services are carried out in accordance with governing laws, policies, regulations, and professional standards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Information ManagementPlanning and EvaluatingTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
