About the Position: Serves as an expert in the analysis and evaluation of MEDCOM Missions and Plans policies, programs, goals and issues in Falls Church, Virginia.
Duties
The primary responsibility of the Plans Division branch chief is the supervision of the Branch and its subsequent missions.
Establishes, revises, and reviews policies, procedures, mission objectives, and organization design for the staff to eliminate work problems or barriers to mission accomplishment.
Reviews and structures organization to optimize use of resources and maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.
Selects or recommends selection of candidates for vacancies, promotions, details, and reassignments in consideration of skills and qualifications, mission requirements, and EEO and diversity objectives.
Provides oversight of overall projects to ensure achievement of the Division goals and objectives.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must maintain and obtain Top Secret clearance.
- Temporary duty (TDY) travel 25% of the time.
- Incumbent is required to be on one year Supervisory probationary period.
- This position is a Mission Essential position.
- Incumbent is required to successfully complete drug test.

Individual Occupational Requirements:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in planning, scheduling and caring out projects, programs and activities. Establish, revise, review policy procedures and mission objectives relating to operational plans of medical units in support of the organization's campaign plan. Manage workload and provide direction and vision on the overall mission. Identify employee developmental needs and provide or arranges for training to maintain and improve job performance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
