Duties

Serve as Chief of the Plans and Protection Branch in the Plans and Operations Division for the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization, and Security (DPTMS), United States Garrison Fort Carson, CO. Develop, prepare, coordinate, and maintain all installation plans and policies pertaining to emergency preparedness, contingency operations, Deployment and Redeployment, Mobilization/Demobilization and exercises. Act as the Branch Plans and Protections Chief exercising the full range of human resource duties to ten civilian personnel performing administrative, technical, and clerical work. Coordinate with area Emergency Management offices on all disaster plans and schedules personnel, funding, equipment, and supplies, directs and evaluates the exercising contingency plans based on scheduled requirements or as needed. Present briefings to the Installation and Garrison Commanders, installation directorates and staff activities, other headquarters, and civilian agencies covering disaster preparedness, contingency plans, and other plans. Prepare, coordinate and provide training to personnel to ensure readiness for emergency situations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A One Year of Supervisory Probationary Period may be required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET clearance.
  • The duties of this position may require shift work and/or work on rotating shifts to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, and in other situations.
  • Position has been determined to be Inclement Weather Essential.
  • Incumbent is required to report for duty during inclement weather, Natural Disasters and other emergency situations as directed and may be required to remain on duty after the official shift ends, i.e. mandatory overtime; recall to duty.
  • IAW Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, the incumbent of this position must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Business travel is required 10% or less of the time.
  • This position is subject to an initial drug screening, and random testing thereafter. A negative drug test result must be received by human resources within 30 calendar days after the Entrance on Duty (i.e., start date).
  • Selectee’s inability to successfully pass or refusal to conduct the drug test may result in the job offer being withdrawn during the recruitment process or subsequently being removed from Federal service for failure to meet a condition of employment.
  • You may be required to sign a Statement of Understanding if you are selected for this position.
  • One year supervisory probationary period.
