About the Position: Incumbent is responsible for the management of the schedules/appointments for Military Treatment Facility (MTF) clinics as assigned by the Supervisor, Centralized Appointing and Template/Scheduling Section (CATSS). Maintains templates, and schedules for providers, residents and technicians.

Duties
Responsible for the day-to-day administration, maintenance and resolution of all assigned clinic Templates and Schedules utilizing Medical Treatment Facility automated systems.
Function as Master Scheduler and is responsible for the management of the schedules/appointments for the hospital clinics as assigned by the Chief Centralized Appointing and Template/Scheduling Section.
Develop and maintain templates and schedules for providers and technicians; develop and maintain clinic, provider and appointment type profiles in designated automated systems.
Continuously review patient appointment procedures carried out by medical clerks throughout the hospital to ensure consistency, quality of service and compliance with procedures and operating policies.
Identify problem areas based on observation or discussion with clerks or health care officials and providers.
Utilize various office automation programs, such as Word, Excel and Power Point, to create documents, and/or reports.
Utilize various office automation programs to complete forms for files.
Communicate with Patients as to type of ailment to determine proper clinic for treatment.
Communicate regularly with patients, Medical Staff and Management regarding template and/or Scheduling.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccinations.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) requirement of 5%.
- Must type 40 wpm.
- Must be able to utilize office automated system and applicable software applications.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes: managing and scheduling using systems such as CHCS, AHLTA and Template Analysis Tool (TAT) Patient Appointment and Scheduling (PAS) and/or MHS Genesis; scheduling appointments, preparing and implementing operating guides; preparing and updating reports; overseeing automated data processing equipment and serving as liaison between customers and health care personnel; communicating with Medical Professionals, staff and/or management on a regular basis regarding scheduling, template or database management. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
