About the Position: Serves as a senior Training Specialist recommends solutions of unusual problems to supervisor for final decision. Work is carried out independently; the supervisor gives advice on anticipated problems and is consulted by the specialist when unexpected problems arise. Incumbent ensures work is technically sound and meets Department of Defense, Department of the Army and Training and Doctrine Command guidelines, making recommendations in methods or modifications as necessary.
Duties
Identifies the need for improving on-going programs as related to Safety Readiness. Identifies and determines shortcomings and/or deficiencies in existing programs, informing the Supervisor, and recommending solutions.
Oversees the work of team in accomplishing the assigned mission via telephonic coordination and integration with aerial delivery support community and interested organizations.
Participates in the Army Lessons Learned Forums and the CASCOM Lessons Learned Working Group conducted to share Lessons Learned program changes and coordinate Lesson Learned issues across the Army and across the Sustainment community.
Reviews and validates the quality of assigned courses and courseware through staff assistance visits to training sites, review of evaluation questionnaires, and analysis of available data.
Conducts OCONUS and CONUS assistance visits to identify capability shortfalls with the purpose of improving Aerial Delivery integration with the warfighter.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing duties such as advising on training matters related to readiness and safety of one or more Aerial Delivery Systems; planning, organizing, executing, and improving the quality of training programs; applying knowledge of Aerial Delivery readiness and safety as related to doctrine, organizations, equipment & training. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
