The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Aircraft Maintenance Functional Area Manager. Responsible for developing, evaluating, and directing overall command-wide management, control, policy and administration of deployment [ deliberate, crisis action, and Air Expeditionary Forces( AEF) activities for all Aircraft Maintenance personnel within the command.
Duties
Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the Command Aircraft Maintenance (21A) functional area management (FAM) duties.
Develops and manages aircraft maintenance deliberate plans, Designed Operational Capability (DOC) Statements, and provides planning and execution activities to support all possible contingency operations.
Responsible for the management and oversight of all personnel and equipment within the aircraft maintenance functional area.
Represents the AFRC Aircraft Maintenance community at higher management-level meetings within the organization, and at MAJCOM, RAF, DOD and other agencies.
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.

- TEMP NTE 1 year with option to extend up to 3 years without further competition. Perm employees would be required to take a more than 3 days break in service.

Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes comprehensive knowledge of Air Force laws, policies, regulations, and precedents applicable to logistics, readiness, and mobilization. Knowledge and skill in applying a wide range of qualitative and quantitative method for the assessment and improvement of readiness and mobilization programs. Work requires considerable skill in applying this knowledge to plan and accomplish a variety of complex work assignments and to identify, analyze, and resolve logistics management issues or problems. Comprehensive knowledge of the readiness and mobilization support needs of assignment programs, systems, equipment, and components. Knowledge of aircraft maintenance systems, procedures, and programs. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:1. Comprehensive knowledge of Air Force logistics concepts, principles, practices, procedures, and instructions applicable to a full range of logistics management to include deployment planning and operations and logistics plans under the peacetime and wartime conditions to develop and recommend policies and procedures for the command.2. Knowledge of structure, internal and external interfaces, update procedures, and uses of automated logistics mobilization, planning and readiness programs and databases.3. Knowledge of the AEF concept, procedures, and program objectives.4. Broad knowledge of aircraft maintenance management practices, procedures and organizational requirements, capabilities and limitations.5. Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate aircraft maintenance requirements, data, policies, and procedures.6. Knowledge of Air Force and AFRC policies and procedures applicable to the management of logistics personnel and deployed resources.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
