This position is located in the Government Accountability Office. As a Budget Analyst you will be responsible for formulating, interpreting policy, overall formulation, preparation, justification, presentation and execution of budget and providing advice, guidance, assistance and direction to agency managers on budgetary matters.
Duties
As aBudget Analyst, PT, 0560, 2, your typical work assignments may include the following:
Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates budget execution actions in assigned offices and teams. Assists in the formulation of the GAO's resource requests with accompanying budget supplements and other supporting documentation. Assists in preparation of narrative justifications and projected funding statements.
Monitors program performance, and workforce and resource utilization to ensure Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates budget execution actions in assigned offices and teams. Coordinates budget and financial information with procurement and other financial management staff as necessary to validate funding.
Manages budget object classes (BOCs) and reviews and analyzes financial reports to identify cases where reprogramming is needed, and recommends actions.
Conducts program reviews and analysis of resource needs; maintains program performance data, and prepares reports to reflect the status of funding for assigned organizations and operating offices. Provides detailed and program specific guidance and assistance in budget formulation, preparation, presentation, justification and execution to assigned organizational components.
Prepares a variety of routine and special budget reports. Ensures that reliable and timely information is provided to program components and operating offices for effective resource management decision-making that funds are used in the most cost-effective manner.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the BAND II level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower band level, equivalent to the Band I level or GS-11/Band I level in the federal service or equivalent public or private sector, which has equipped the applicant with the skills and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as: experience formulating budget estimates; presenting budget plans; analyzing approved budget plans; maintaining effective fund control policies and procedures; and providing financial management advice to staff on department budgets.
