You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (MECHANICAL) in the FACILITY AND INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT, FACILITY AND PLANT PLANNING DIVISION of FLTREADCEN SOUTHEAST.

Duties

You will develop technical drawings for tooling, fixtures, and equipment. You will develop all processes in the manufacture of complex aircraft and engine parts. You will adapt oral communication methods and styles based on the audience and the target objectives. You will analyze data system anomalies to determine if caused by equipment or operational errors.

Requirements

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

Qualifications

GS-09 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing some or all of the following duties: 1) Analyzing engineering drawings and other technical data to determine feasibility of manufacturing, repairing, or modifying of parts, 2) Developing tool programs for parts utilizing Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing software, 3) Providing specific data regarding cost, time, material, and tooling during the planning process, 4) Operating 3-D design software to obtain data from one-dimension drawings, photo negatives, and sample parts, and 5) Evaluating a variety of unusual conditions, problems, or questions related to programming, reverse engineering, manufacturing, and process engineering. GS-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing some or all of the following duties: Performing basic techniques and methodologies of manufacturing and rework of aircraft and engine parts and components utilizing computer numerical control (CNC) manufacturing and programming methods; 2) Planning order of operations for machining basic parts on axis 2, 3, 4, and 5 machines to calculate proper feeds and speeds; 3) Directing experience utilizing a wide array of software including Siemens NX CAD/CAE design software and Vericut simulation software; 4) Utilizing precision measurement, geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) to accomplish blue-print reading, drafting and 3D modeling; and 5) Modifying and debugging CNC programs based on errors generated on the CNC machine tool during prove-out.
