You will serve as an Engineering Technician in the FTS Department of FLTREADCEN SOUTHEAST.

Duties

Performing detailed measurements for FAT (First Article Test) items using calibrated electronic and hand measuring tools. You will assess measurement or calibration requirements for systems, test systems, or support equipment. You will advise cognizant activities regarding the recall, calibration, or repair of damaged metrology and calibration (METCAL) standards or test and measurement equipment. You will maintain data within the Navair Depot Maintenance System (NDMS) to manage work orders and material. You will operate instruments (e.g., gauges, bridges, oscilloscopes, meters) to perform measurements and calibrations. You will prepare supporting documentation for improved processes, procedures or equipment design changes.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing some or all of the following duties: 1) Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, technical specifications, sketches and other technical material to assist engineering personnel; 2) Setting up and using, as well as calibrating, various types of measuring devices and precision instruments to perform detailed measurements for First Article Testing, Production Lot Testing and Destination Acceptance items; 3) Communicating with Critical Item Managers to determine Technical Data Package validation screening, workload scope and requirements, and technical requirements; 4) Performing pre-inspection and post-inspection briefings at vendors' facilities; 5) Participating in formal and informal Engineering Investigations; and, 6) Working with engineers to develop calibration processes and perform reverse engineering using a variety of machinist measuring tools.
