You will serve as an Engineering Technician in the Facilities and Plan Maintenance Division, Facility and Infrastructure Management Department of FLTREADCEN SOUTHEAST. This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

You will investigate and validate predictive maintenance criteria gathered from a variety of complex industrial plant equipment. You will provide engineering assistance on issues concerning the predictive maintenance program and provide instruction to maintenance mechanics involved in repairs, installation, or testing of critical plant equipment. You will formulate and present findings, briefings, project papers, status reports, and correspondence to senior engineers. You will determine "fault condition" by performing in-depth analysis to determine the source of failure to the component level.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing conventional technical engineering concepts, principles, and practices associated with predicting the failure of industrial plant equipment; 2) Conducting engineering investigations and performing developmental work related to established or novel production materials, processes, and techniques to upgrade or improve products; 3) Reading, understanding, and interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings or sketches, and various technical reference manuals related to industrial plant equipment; and 4) Testing materials to identify or establish conformance to specification requirements for maintenance on production equipment.
