About the Position: This position is in the Managed Care Division at the Evans Army Community Hospital (EACH) located at Ft. Carson, Colorado. EACH provides a full range of inpatient and outpatient medical services to active-duty personnel, retirees, and Department of Defense dependents within a multi-military service healthcare market.
This is developmental position management may select at any of the grade levels announced.
Duties
Provide support and assist in the maintenance and provision of a comprehensive managed care program.
Provide improved access to high quality of care while containing/reducing health care expenditures.
Provide or arrange for care to an appropriate source, ensure payment for care provided.
Disperse information to the public on rights, benefits, privileges, or obligations.
Explain pertinent legal provisions, regulations, and related administrative practices, and their application to specific cases.
Assist individuals in developing needed evidence and preparing required documents, resolving errors, delays or other problems in obtaining benefits or fulfilling obligations.
Requirements

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. GS-05 Specialized Experience: One-year experience answering routine questions by the patients concerning basic eligibility and costs; and experience using automated systems; and experience typing correspondence. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. To be consider for GS-06 and/or GS-07 grade level, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
GS- 06 Specialized Experience: One-year specialized experience which includes documented experience which demonstrates preparing reports and correspondences by retrieving data from automated computer systems; conducting personal or telephonic interviews to establish eligibility and identify the source of an issue; and assisting patients in developing needed evidence and preparing required documents to resolve delays or other problems in obtaining benefits. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
OR
GS- 07 Specialized Experience: providing administrative services such as receiving, integrating and/or tracking of patient's information associated with patient care and treatment; advising and assisting patients and family members with medical insurance claims, problems, and questions; and dispersing information to the public on rights, benefits, privileges, or obligations under a body of law. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

GS-05: Time in Grade Requirement: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-5 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non temporary competitive appointment.
GS-06: Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
GS-07: Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
Education
