You will serve as a GG-0080-14 Supervisory Security Specialist, providing personnel security, policy direction, guidance and oversight, planning day-to-day activities, and leading a team of civilian security specialists within HQ US MARINE CORPS. This position is located at the Headquarters Marine Corps Special Security Office (SSO), Intelligence Division, Deputy Commandant for Information (DCI) in Arlington, VA.
Duties
You will plan day-to-day activities and lead a team of civilian security specialists responsible for measuring, analyzing, improving, and implementing security measures to enable the success of the Marine Corps mission.
You will perform key decision-making and policy-developing for command security program requirements.
You will analyze, identify, and coordinate resources, processes, and activities that translate policy into effective command security programs and capabilities.
You will monitor and perform continuous adjustments to provide input to evolving changing security policies and determine the best course of action for implementation.
You will conduct periodic assistance visits and recurring self-inspections and provide assistance and guidance to regional and unit special security offices and commanders with tasks and issues that exceed local capabilities.
You will make decisions that impact the resources (people, budget, materials) of the work unit, ensure the technical quality and timeliness of the work produced by employees in the unit, and collaborate with supervisors across the organization.
Requirements

- You must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). Failure to do so may result in the withdrawal of an offer or removal. Indicate the level and date of your clearance in your resume.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You must acknowledge in writing that you are accepting an appointment in the DCIPS (excepted service) which does not confer competitive status, prior to appointment.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- All Defense Intelligence positions under the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) are in the excepted service by specific statute, 10 U.S.C. 1601. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.
- This position requires a periodic polygraph examination.
- This position may require a 2-year DCIPS trial period.
- This position requires Security Professional Education Development (SPeD), Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within 1 year of assignment.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GG/GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector, such as:
1. Plan day-to-day activities and perform the full range of supervisory duties, including hiring, managing, appraising performance, discipline, resolving complaints, and supporting employee development.
2. Make key decisions and develop policies for security program requirements.
3. Conduct, manage, and provide advice regarding sensitive security investigations and activities.
4. Identify resources and functional requirements of security architectures, systems, processes, and facilities for numerous Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs).
