About the Position: Administers a Military Treatment Facility's (MTF's) Disability Evaluation System (DES) program in support of service members in areas such as access-to-care, medical records management, specialty care referral management to the civilian network, medical profiling, Veterans Administration (VA) actions, monitoring of case processing at the Physical Evaluation Board (PEB), coordination of legal consultation and recovery care coordinator support. Duty Hours: 0730-1630.
Duties
Administer the Disability Evaluation System (DES) at a Military Treatment Facility and serve as the primary point of contact.
Independently conduct studies related to DES processes; e.g., work measurement, methods and procedures, etc.
Serve as the Physical Evaluation Board Liaison Officer (PEBLO). Designated as the principal point of contact.
Educate serviced population on various topics related to DES. Maintains currency of DES regulations and PEBLO Guide and educates MTF staff and various beneficiary groups, on changes to those provisions.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
- This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
- This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes verifying medical records are complete; compiling and analyzing medical data for reports; advising customers and/or patients on policies and procedures; and conducting interviews in person or by phone with veterans, representatives, and/or advocates to explain benefits and related programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Healthcare Management.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
