This position is located in the Veterans Administration (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Mid Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6), Fayetteville VA Medical Center, Fayetteville, North Carolina, in the Office of Patient Care Service. This position provides administrative and program support services to the Chief Nurses of Mental Health, Geriatrics/Long-Term Care, Ambulatory Care, and Acute Care.
Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Receives and screens calls to make accurate referrals to the appropriate person.
Acts as liaison to other managers and staff for the Chief Nurses within the organization.
Receives and processes all correspondence and documents transmitted through the Chief Nurses office.
Ensures correspondence conforms to regulations, is in proper format with correct grammar, and includes appropriate coordination with staff, if applicable.
Initiates personnel actions such as Board Actions, recruitment, appointments, promotions, special advancements, transfers, and separations.
Maintains appointments, calendars, and schedules.
Makes arrangements for travel, meetings, and community activities.
Provides general office supply and equipment support services.
Functions as ADP Coordinator, including troubleshooting copy machines, PC, telephone, and fax problems.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/05/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Preparing a wide variety of recurring and nonrecurring reports, correspondence and other documents; Reviewing and processing incoming and outgoing correspondence, materials, publications, regulations, and directives; Receiving telephone calls, greet visitors, and ascertain the nature of the calls or visits; Performing other administrative and clerical work in support of the office; Functioning as the office alternate Automated Data Processing Applications Coordinator (ADPAC), troubleshoots technical problems users have with software packages and hardware issues. Arranging and coordinating meetings. Using word processing software and spreadsheet software to execute several office automation functions and graphical display of data.
Proficiency Requirement: In addition to meeting Specialized Experience the following is required: Typing Proficiency: 40 words per minute typing speed. Applicants may meet this requirement by presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates or by self-certifying their proficiency.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: The work area is usually an adequately lighted, heated and ventilated office of medical facility setting. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions. The sedentary and may require some walking, standing, bending, carrying and/or lifting of light items like papers or books. The work requires light to moderate levels/times performing keyboarding to prepare correspondence.
