This position is a member of the Women's Health program team providing administrative and management support functions that are essential to facilitate the improvement of women's health access and patient outcomes. The incumbent will assist with data collection, analysis of trends, and implementation of best practices.
Duties
This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6) at the Fayetteville Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Fayetteville, NC. The incumbent serves as the Program Support Assistant (OA) of the Women's Health team and provided administrative and management support functions.
Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Serving as a central point of contact to provide authoritative explanations of requirements, regulations, and procedures and to resolve operational problems.
Maintaining calendars and coordinates reception of mail, telephone calls, and visitors to ensure a smooth flow of business in the Women's Health Service.
Tracking and keeping supervisor informed about the program budget information.
Establishing and maintains records and files according to written guidelines.
Performing work related to the acquisition and/or development of program information and resource materials/personnel to support the policy development and/or technical activities of the Women's Health program.
Works collaboratively with the Women Veteran Program and support staff in the distant sites to ensure smooth flow of operations.
Comprehensive knowledge of the duties, priorities, commitments, policies, and program goals of the unit sufficient to perform specialized non-routine assignments.
Knowledge of the broad range of patient care and administrative services in order to plan, implement, carry out, and advise on various activities relative to quality management/improvement, continuum of care, and performance measures.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/28/2023.
TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENT: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6 must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. In addition to meeting the time-in-grade requirement, applicants must meet the following specialize experience:
Specialized Experience: Applicants must have one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
GS-07 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: Collecting, compiling, and/or tracking statistical information and preparing complex reports; tracking achievement on performance measures, goals and objectives; maintaining appointments and calendars and schedules conferences for the supervisor and other staff; establishes and maintains records and files according to written guidelines.
Preferred Experience:
Performs a wide variety of administrative tasks associated with maintaining and supporting the work for Fayetteville, NC VA Costal Health Care System and the CBOC's in the Women Health Service Line and other sections within Geriatrics and Extended Care.
The incumbent operates at a level of responsibility that requires independent actions with broad program directives and supervisory guidelines.
Performs clerical, administrative and technical program support work for the service.
Makes travel arrangements, prepares and submit travel documents for staff members
Proficiency Requirement: Clerk-Typist, Office Automation Clerk/Assistant and Positions with Parenthetical Titles of (Typing), (Office Automation)
Clerk-Typist, GS-2/4; Office Automation Clerk/ Assistant (any grade); (Typing) (any grade); and (Office Automation) (any grade): require 40 words per minute typing speed.

Physical Requirements: The majority of work is performed in an office setting with adequate light, heat, and ventilation. Typical office setting, subject to noise caused by multiple visits by staff, equipment and telephone interruptions when performing various functions on a daily basis. Work is mostly sedentary; however does require standing, ambulation, bending, lifting of objects less than 25 pounds, and pushing of carts.
