This position is part of the Office of Management, Department of Energy. As a Quality Assurance Specialist, you will provide expert consultant services with technical advice and guidance in assigned areas to management on matters relating to the safe and efficient management of contractor operations.

As a Quality Assurance Specialist, you will:
Requirements

- Position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Applicants tentatively selected for appointment to this position will participate in drug urinalysis testing.
- This position is included in a Bargaining Agreement.
- This position does not support 100% remote work.
Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: You must meet the Basic Requirement listed in the "Education Requirements" section and the "Specialized Experience" to qualify for this series as described below.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS FOR GS-09: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-07. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting all of the following:
Providing technical support concerning logistical support services;
Analyzing quality data for negative trends in quality data;
Reviewing deficiency reports and identifying causes;
OR
Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D if related.
OR
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. (NOTE: You must attach a legible copy of your transcripts.)
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS FOR GS-11: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-09. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting all of the following:
Evaluating supply systems operations through periodic audits and surveillance inspections;
Assessing contractors' Quality Control programs and performance, providing evaluations for award fee determination;
Coordinating logistics, audit/assessment reports and corrective action plans
OR
Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or at least 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. if related to the duties of the position.

COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE. A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Education

Degree: Major study -- quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or other fields related to the position.
OR
Experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge in monitoring, controlling, or maintaining the quality of products or services in quality assurance, procurement, inspection, production, or related areas. Example includes: Reviewing production activities and capabilities in light of contract quality requirements.
Experience in fields such as quality control, quality inspection, contracting and purchasing, supply and storage, industrial or production planning, research and engineering, maintenance, and test and evaluation that provided (1) familiarity with quality assurance or related work, (2) pertinent product or process knowledge and skill, (3) ability to interpret and apply contract requirements and engineering specifications, and (4) skill in dealing with others in person-to-person work relationships.
Education must be obtained from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Foreign education must be reviewed by an organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
