This position is located in the outpatient clinics at Phoenix Indian Medical Center, within Ambulatory Services. The Licensed Clinical Social Worker provides integrated comprehensive mental health and social services to ambulatory patients. Incumbent ensures patients receive quality mental health care that is consistent with the patient-centered medical home principles, and that care is timely, appropriate, cost effective, sensitive and coordinated to achieve desired clinical outcomes.
Duties
Provides a broad range of social work services including initial screenings, assessments, diagnostic evaluations, counseling, therapy, crisis interventions and/or case management services in a high intensity clinical environment which requires a high degree of independent decision making and program administration.
Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning through case-staffing and collaborative treatment of patients with the Behavioral Health Department.
Provides case management services to patients and families, as needed.
Provides information and referrals to community resources, and assist patients in utilization of federal, state, local, and private community resources.
Serves as an expert in Child Protective Service reporting and Indian Child Welfare Act.
May provide clinical supervision and training to professional social work staff and social work student interns.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS :Master's degree, or higher doctoral degree, in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GS-12:Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: Professional knowledge of social work to provide a variety of treatment modalities and their application including individual, family, psychotherapy and case consultation; Knowledge and specialized experience in using the Diagnostic System of Mental Health Disorders (DSM);Competence with DSM for differential diagnosis and treatment planning; Knowledge of psychological principles and processes, and psychotropic medications; and Ability to perform extensive research and evaluation.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: Must have ability to independently perform clinical social work functions with demonstration of advanced knowledge and skill in the management of complex social work scenarios as indicated by possession of one of the following: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW); Certified Independent Social Worker (CISW); or Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW).
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
