This position will serve as a Program Support Assistant for the Social Work Service at Northern Arizona VA Health Care System (NAVAHCS) in Prescott, Arizona, providing support to the Extended and Specialty Care Supervisory Social Worker and programs within the department. The main focus is to provide a wide variety of intricate and diverse administrative and contracting tasks associated with maintaining and supporting the Contract Nursing Home (CNH) & Adult Day Health Care (ADHC) programs.
Duties
The Program Support Assistant will also provide administrative support to three (3) other coordinators including Medical Foster Home, Visual Impairment Services Team, and the Spinal Cord Injury coordinators.
The major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Providing contract management, data collection, coordination of non-clinical activities, and invoice management which involves review and certification for payment to include working with Minimum Data Sets (MDS) and Medicare/Medicaid/CMS information to complete work.
Working closely with the Contracting Officer, Fiscal Management Services, CNH/ADHC administrative and billing staff, and VISN Payment Operations and Management Center (POM).
Requesting corrected invoices to correct submissions identified and guides facility staff to proper VA billing.
Tracing all costs and invoice processing electronically.
Coordinating annual CNH reviews, ensuring all required documentation is received from the facilities.
Providing direct technical and administrative assistance to the Contract Nursing Home/Adult Day Health Care Program and its staff and assisting in implementing and administrating the CNH.
Providing a wide range of eligibility and procedural information to the nursing homes and appropriate others based on the various guidelines and regulations applicable to each program.
Participating in the planning and development for long and short-range goals for the Social Work Extended and Specialty Care Programs.
Serving as a resource for Social Work Extended and Specialty Care Programs with Human Resources Management Service (HRMS) issues.
Serving as a timekeeper for Social Work Service, ensuring all timecards are accurate to provide timely compensation to employees and protect the interest of the Northern Arizona VA Health Care System (NAVAHCS).
Serving as Automated Data Processing Application Coordinator (ADPAC) for the services as needed.
Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm

Physical Requirements: This work involves some walking, bending, and carrying of some light items. The work requires the incumbent to be able to move comfortably around the office and when necessary other locations.

GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: Providing program support and financial services; Working with invoices, payments and billing activities associated with a complex electronic system; Working with and understanding medical terminology and usage within an interdisciplinary team of services lines and programs; Setting priorities, deadlines and coordinating activities with a variety of people for varied backgrounds; Utilizing extensive clerical, technical and administrative skills to accomplish tasks within the service, facility, network and nationwide.
There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 level.
