About the Position: Crane Army Ammunition Activity (CAAA) mission statement: To receive, store, ship, produce, renovate and demilitarize conventional ammunition, missiles and related components to meet contingency requirements in support of the warfighter.
Duties
Assists Project Engineers in executing various ammunition, munitions, or explosives manufacturing production, renovation, or demilitarization programs for the Activity.
Involved in direct production-line support, including problem-solving, designing line layouts, process monitoring, line-leveling, equipment readiness, and troubleshooting line stoppages.
Works with teams in a manufacturing environment on process-improvement events using various tools of continuous improvement, including lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, and total productive maintenance.
Translates requirements from technical data packages into written procedures for use in production or demilitarization of ammunition, munitions, or explosive items.
Investigates practicality of proposed/requested changes and recommends acceptance or rejection to the project engineer.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Non-Critical Sensitive, Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
- This is a Temporary position.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year experience which includes experience such as: 1) Applies a wide range of technical engineering methods, techniques, and procedures relating to the manufacture of complex parts, special tooling, and fixturing. 2) Plans, designs, and recommends the layout of equipment to optimize production requirements. 3) Leading a project that covers multiple work sites. 4) Applying engineering methodologies and cost estimating to establish technical policies/manuals. and 5) Study and analysis of techniques, general layouts, or designs and selection of appropriate materials for use in production. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (NJ-II).
